Type L is a thicker wall copper plumbing tube that
is considered as standard piping used for medium pressure residential
and commercial applications.
Type L comes in same sizes as that of K (from 1/4" - 8"
diameter) and its wall thickness is about halfway between the wall
thickness of Types K and M. In 3/4" size, the bursting pressure of
Type L is about 4,000 pounds per square inch.

Type L copper tubes are primarily designed for medium-pressure interior
plumbing and for steam and hot-water heating applications. These tubes
should not be used for outdoor applications in underground connections.
