Copper tube also comes in larger sizes for DWV lines
in 20-ft lengths (hard). Some special situations require these types of
pipes and some plumbing contractors prefer them to PVC.
Type DWV has less thick walls than, types K, L and M, which have found
applications in supply systems and can handle high internal pressure.
The DWV tubes are never used in a supply system.

In residential buildings and one / two-story commercial buildings, the
drainage piping is generally straightforward in structure and easier in
installation. Type DWV copper tubes, when installed properly provides
superior performance and years of trouble-free service.
Type DWV tube and fittings have smaller diameter, which makes it
possible to install copper drainage systems in applications where other
piping materials would be impossible, difficult or very costly to use.
For example, a 3-inch copper stack has a small outside diameter of
3-3/8-inch at the fitting, which can be installed in a cavity wall of
3-1/2 inch.
Type DWV tube and fittings are light in weight that makes it possible
to handle substantially large assemblies. The sub-assemblies in this
case require minimum support when connected to a previously installed
part of a drainage system.
Applications:
- Drainage
- Waste
- Vent
- Soil
- Other Non Pressure Applications
