Due
to its durability and ability to withstand corrosion, steel pipes are used
for different purposes. Unlike fiber glass tubes, the steel pipes are more
flexible and can be molded to fit particular requirement. Steel pipes are
the most commonly used material in construction, automotive and other infra
structural sites. The strength and sturdiness of the steel pipe depends on
the content of iron and carbon. When carbon is added to iron, it manages to
change its properties greatly, forming steel. There are different types of
Steel pipes which can be fabricated to any length and strength according to
the use.
The categorization of the steel pipes are done based on their usages,
chemical composition and size. The steel pipes are mainly of four different
types - line steel pipes, standard steel pipes, structural steel pipes and
plumbing tubes. Line Steel Pipes are used for energy distribution. Standard
steel pipes are used for transportation of gas, water and other light
pressure liquids. Structural steel pipes are used in infrastructure whereas,
plumbing pipes or tubes are for distribution of water for homes and
buildings.
