Stainless
Steel History:
The first idea of steel alloy was dated back in 1821. The French
metallurgist invented the idea and it was an alloy of iron-chromium. He
noted that the said alloy is resistant to some acids and started using in
making cutlery. The actual stainless steel that we are using today is the
result of many researches by scientists during 1904 to 1911.
Usages:
Stainless steel is an alloy of iron which contains more than 10% chromium
that generally prevents corrosion. In the steel segment market, stainless
steel pipe is the fastest growing individual segment which serves the needs
of several industrial sectors like - petrochemical and refineries. Due to
its anti-corrosive property, stainless steel is used for manufacturing pipes
& tubes. The production of stainless steel pipes & tubes increased
rapidly since last decade.
Properties of Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes:
Stainless steel pipes are formed by sufficient solution heat treatment
which is why it can resist high, low or ultra low temperature. It can be of
different grades and surface finishes. There are many varieties of stainless
steel pipes which are all resistant towards organic acid, mineral acid and
oxidation.
